About Estepona
Estepona is one of the most westerly towns on the Costa del Sol. Situated between Malaga (85k) and Gibraltar (45k) International Airports which offer excellent flight connections into the UK, and good car hire facilities. The town nestles at the base of the Sierra Berjma Mountains, protected from the cold northerly winds and bad weather in winter. Estepona maintains an enjoyable climate all year round
Estepona's Old Town centre preserves its typically charming Andalusian style of architectural town planning. It has a maze of cobblestone streets lined with orange trees and original whitewashed townhouses with balconies colourfully decorated with flowerpots. Estepona is one of the prettiest and most quintessentially Spanish of all the coastal towns.
take a stroll through Estepona - reassuringly Spanish!
There are excellent beaches and tourist facilities nearby, including a wild life park: Selwo, which is considered one of the best in Europe. There is also a prestigious riding centre & school: Escuela de Arte Ecuestre de la Costa del Sol. All this, together with many sporting services for both land and water activities.
Estepona was originally a fishing village. An early morning visit to the Fish Market will see the largest fleet south of Malaga return. It is well worth a visit to understand their continued importance to local cuisine and the economy. After May the bullfighting season begins in a modern Bullring a few minutes walk from the Marina. Early in July the annual Fiesta y Feria week which transforms the sleepy town into a carnival with locals dressed in colourful Flamenco style clothes.

It has developed organically and has managed to bypass the tower block architecture of its near neighbours. The fine sandy beach is long, wide and pleasant with sun lounges for hire by the day or week. The graceful promenade is continuously studded with palm trees and flowerbeds. Located in the centrally in the town is the Tourismo on Avenida San Loenzo 1. There are many good and reasonably priced fish restaurants, and also tapas bars in the lovely Plaza Arce and Plaza de las Flores.
Below are photos from two local celebrations in Estepona. First a spring Fiesta. Second, scenes from the Easter Parade. Over the Easter period there are many processions in and around Estepona.

Estepona's covered market has daily catches, good fruit and vegetable stalls. There is a weekly open air food market on a Wednesday in the Feria Ground and a local tourist market on a Sunday morning in the Marina.
Located in the Old Town the original townhouse offers modern comforts yet retaining its Andalusian charm and character.
